About this deal

Like the ZS10 before it, the AS10 does not offer a high level of passive isolation from external noise, providing just a bit of reduction in volume and not much more. Using foam tips helps reduce noise a bit, but they can’t replace the isolation that the shells do not offer. If you enjoy parties, I have a list of the best Bluetooth party speakers as well as a list of the best floating Bluetooth speakers.

With an EQ you will be able to customize their lower mids and male vocals into absolutely clear and free of mid-bass bleed. Higher mids can be EQ’ed to calm down some of their harshy peaks without getting recessed. Let’s face it: while KZ headphones often offer good value, they have never been great soundwise. Yes, they are good… for the price. After many, many headphones plagued by tuning issues, the KZ AS10 are finally balanced and without the spikes and dips that characterise most of the company’s products. No more aggressive upper mids, no more overpowering mid-bass, no more fatiguing treble. This is finally a KZ product that gets tuning right. The irritating thing is that it is more than probably just a chance, as KZ is notorious for using off-the-shelf drivers without any proper tuning work. The build quality is also another thing you need to consider. Most in ear headphones from KZ look quite cool and I think that’s due to their hybrid design. However, buying them solely for their transparent design is not a smart thing to do. They feel quite solid and should be able to survive some bumps. This and the ED16 are the best KZ mids to date. Whoever at the factory that was supposed to scoop the mids must have had the day off as they are more present in the mix than any other KZ in memory. I still hear the ES4 as a V (and the FR graphs prove that out as the mids are nearly 5db behind the treble and 7-9db behind the bass) but the sound is so well proportioned that it does not listen like a big V but more like a shallow V with a lively presence region. The KZ ES4 belongs to the newest generation of KZ in-ear monitors and shares some design similarities with the KZ ZS10 , like the transparent housings and the characteristic divider board with the KZ logo which can be found inside the rear section of the housings.

Make it Shine

The cable is another feature that it inherited from the KZ AS10 and Kz ZS10. The twisted 4-strand cable is the same, but it’s a little better and, most significantly, it’s free of the memory wire, that we all despised. They are a pair of headphones that bring great value to the table and not only that they have a fine tune to sound great across the entire frequency range.

KZ opted for their usual V-shaped approach, but this time they finally got it right by avoiding the usual blatant unbalance that plagues most of their headphones. These are still heavily coloured headphones, but at least they’re enjoyable and don’t display excessive peaks or dips. KZ ZS10: the midrange on the ZS10 is much more recessed and much less balanced; treble, too, is way less present and detailed. It almost feels dull in comparison to the AS10. The only point in common is bass, which is however not as emphasised on the new model. In terms of technical ability, the AS10 win in terms of detail, but the ZS10 are better on the soundstage front. The rest is a tie. Because they are a pair of IEM, they are very small and have a flat design, making them easy to carry. Furthermore, the sound quality is excellent for the price. The cord is also a plus on those headphones, so this is a “steal” for the price, or I can go as far as saying among the best offerings on Kz earphone portfolio. The KZ ZSN are a bit unusual from a design perspective, at least when it comes to KZ standards: the shell is made of transparent plastic (with a fumé finish in my case, but also available in green/cyan and magenta) and the faceplate is made of metal. It is held in place with three screws, placed in the three angles – as the faceplate has an overall triangular shape. On top of the choice of materials, which is new for KZ, the other news is the shape which reminds me of IEMs such as the BGVP DM6. The shell is in fact similar to that of previous KZ earphones, such as the KZ ZS10 or the KZ AS10, so this is not something that we’ve never seen before. This transparent plastic exposes all the innards, so one can easily see the (relatively) large dynamic driver and the balanced armature. The nozzle is made of metal (aluminium?) which should make it much more durable than usual plastic. When it comes to in ear monitors, Kz is among the best brands that offer great earphones. What Is the best Kz in-ear monitor?

The cable is inherited pretty much from the original Kz Zs10, it is the brown colored cable that we are familiar with if you owned a Kz Zs10. PerformanceAn EQ adds a jaw dropping amount of brightness and become noticeably more detailed. Piercing highs can also be efficiently eq’ed to reduce their strength. As I stated, the outside noise was quite a bothersome thing when it comes to professional monitoring or even in general. However, please take care of your surroundings. Sometimes the outside noise is important so you know what is happening around you. While the mids on the Kz Zs 10 earphone provide neutral, smooth, and warm tones, the mid-range has an excellent texture.

I’m not sure whether it’s just a myth, but copper drivers units appear to reduce sound leakage and produce better audio in general. Despite the fact that the ZSN isn’t really new, I consider it to be one of the best Kz earphones releases to yet. While they are not bad, the wired ones provide a better overall sound quality, hence why I didn’t include any wireless ones. The KZ ZSN has the well-known V-shaped sound profile, which leans heavily on bass, but is otherwise well-balanced with a slightly recessed mid range. The earbuds are well-made, light, and comfortable to use in the ear. They are, as stated, a little bulky. Despite this, they are not uncomfortable to wear for lengthy periods of time. Their use of sound separation works really well and provides for an overall balanced listening experience.
