His rare non-comedic film roles include two collaborations with Andre Gregory and Louis Malle: the semi-autobiographical dialogue My Dinner with Andre, and a combined production-and-backstage-drama of Uncle Vanya titled Vanya on 42nd Street. Joining colleagues on a picket line outside the Supreme Court in London, Wallace said that legal aid fees should be increased to encourage young people and those from a diversity of backgrounds to become barristers. Shawn has also written political commentary for The Nation, and in 2004 he published the one-issue-only progressive political magazine Final Edition, which featured interviews with and articles by Jonathan Schell, Noam Chomsky, Mark Strand and Deborah Eisenberg.

Shaun Wallace is also popular by the names like The Dark Destroyer (UK), The Legal Eagle, The Barrister, The Destroyer (Australia) and Grumpy Jaws. Most recently, Shaun has starred on Beat the Chasers, a spin-off of The Chase that sees contestants go head to head with a collection of the Chasers.Shaun has also regularly appeared on British television quiz shows such as Fifteen-To-One, The Weakest Link, Greed, and Are You an Egghead? Around this time, he felt that there was a lack of short fiction available in the literary fantasy genre and to cater to this, he launched Fantasy Magazine in 2005, at the World Fantasy Convention in Wisconsin.
